Treatment typically varies between 20 and 60 sessions (2-3 months), depending on multiple factors such as the duration and severity of symptoms, physical health, use of drugs or medications, and history of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Some cases may take longer to fully regulate brainwave patterns.
Sunshine Neurofeedback offers a train-from-home option using one of our portable neurofeedback systems. Home unit users are provided extensive training on self-administering treatments and consult weekly with one of our clinicians to monitor progress.
Not at all! Neurofeedback does not input electrical current into the brain; it only reads brain activity while you’re sitting comfortably in a recliner watching television and provides feedback for the brain to train and balance.
Proper treatment with neurofeedback is considered highly safe and rarely produces adverse side effects. As neurofeedback improves brain function, it is possible that the known side effects of any medications you are taking may intensify and your doctor may want to therefore lower your dosage. Usually, any such side effects are not considered severe and correct themselves in a short period of time.
